Brach's Filled Raspberries

When I was a child my mother used to leave these Brach’s Filled Raspberries all over the house on Christmas morning. They were in candy dishes, under the Christmas tree and even in our stockings. Apparently they are hard to find in stores now but they can be ordered online. These will always remind me of my mom and the holidays.

Random Acts

This is a submission for Misha Collins' t-shirt design competition that he is having for the non profit organization, Random Acts. Random Acts describes itself as a non profit that "encourages people of all ages to perform their own acts of kindness wherever, and whenever, possible." The design was a collaborative effort. All credit for the very clever idea goes to my friend Stephanie. I was only responsible for the artwork. T-shirt template courtesy of alymunibari.

In the Hospital

I recently spent some time in the hospital after having surgery. I had my iPad with me so I drew this thing on the wall. I have no idea what it is.

Carl Newman

One of my favorite bands, The New Pornographers have a new CD coming out August 25th. In honor of this monumental event I'm stalking lead singer Carl Newman (solo name A.C. Newman). I've had the biggest, craziest crush on Newman for a long time now. Come on, those blue eyes and all that red curly hair, not to mention the outstanding tunes. I can't. But I digress, of course Newman is straight and married. Someone please stab me because that would be less painful.

Figure Drawing 4

Figure drawing group round 4. This week we had two different models to draw. I also drew the couch while we were waiting for the model to show up. These are 2 - 20 minute poses.

Figure Drawing

I went to a figure drawing group for fun and practice. Here are some quick poses. The model kind of reminded me of Lady Gaga

'Unspoken Joy'

In the words of my Facebook friend Dylan:
"Unspoken joy: going total pup and sticking your head out the window and feeling your 'hawk flatten in the wind! Arrrooooo!"

Steven's Bunnies

I have a Facebook friend who’s always posting pictures of his bunnies and they are so cute. For this sketch I was inspired by the bunnies. Sorry Steven, I couldn’t resist. Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies.

Wendy Davis

Texas state senator, Wendy Davis is now running for governor of the state. Rachel Maddow had the opportunity to interview Davis last year in July after her epic filibuster. Davis discussed the hypocrisy of the republican majority in Texas, and particularly of current republican governor Rick Perry, who have stripped many Texas women of health care services while vetoing other bills in the name of 'intrusion of government into a person’s liberty.'  Personally as a democrat, because Texas is one of the reddest of red sates, I would be thrilled to see a win for Davis and to see Texas turn from red to at least purple. Now that Davis is a gubernatorial candidate the right has been trying to smear her relentlessly with personal attacks. The more they attack her the more I like her and I’m certainly not the only one. Davis’ campaign has just announced that she has received a total of 95,892 grassroots contributions of $50 or less since last summer.

Nina Compton

I love Nina from Bravo’s Top Chef. Yes, I am obsessed with Top Chef and I’m majorly rooting for her to win this week in the finale. Go Nina!
